The Industrial Estate Authority of Thailand (IEAT) is a separate governmental authority from the Board of Investment (BOI).
Factories located within an industrial estate are entitled to privileges and benefits granted by the Industrial Estate Authority of Thailand, which are generally more extensive than those available to factories situated outside an industrial estate.
Nevertheless, factories promoted by the Board of Investment receive incentives and privileges directly from the BOI. Consequently, BOI-promoted factories are not required to be located within an industrial estate in order to qualify for such benefits.
