When terminating an employee due to poor performance, the employer must follow the legal procedures in order for the termination to be lawful.
The former employee always claims such a high amount in damages because he sues for unfair dismissal and calculating the damages based on lost income, i.e., the salary they would have received until retirement.
In most cases, the Court does not award the full amount of damages that the former employee demands.
Another reason which the former employee often claims such high amount, filing a case in the Labor Court does not require paying court fees.
